National Cocktail

On May 18th, 2015, a contest (called the "Fifty Shades of Purple Contest") was held to establish Slabovia's National Cocktail. This is not to be confused with Slabovia's National Beverage, which has been Coca-Cola since time began.

A panel of six judges evaluated 13 concoctions, made from recipes submitted by citizens, on the basis of colour (must be purple), appearance, flavour, balance and overall appeal.

Proper safety precautions were taken throughout (as there was some concern that the chemical combinations may have been explosive (a possible assassination attempt). Flavours ranged from absolutely awful all the way up to tolerable. Comments like "oooh, what a pretty purple" were frequently followed by a contorted face and "ugh!" Let's be clear: None of these formulas resulted in a "good" cocktail, but the objective was to choose the best.

The winner, Liam Wall was proclaimed Slabovia's Bartender Laureate

"Purple Reign"

PURPLE REIGN

- 2/3oz Blue Curacao
- 2/3oz Cherry Whiskey
- 2/3oz Malibu Rum (coconut)
- Sprite

  1. In a 14oz glass, mix the Blue Curacao, Cherry Whiskey, and Malibu.
  2. Fill with ice.
  3. Top up with Sprite.
  4. Stir with finger.
  5. Enjoy.
